At 10:30AM  on Wednesday morning (26/10/2016), at the 200-seat Hall of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School took place a club meeting, chaired by the executive board of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) of  Hanoi – Amsterdam High School, discussing clubs’ plans of activities in the next school year. Attended the meeting Mrs. Tran Hong Linh- Secretary of  HCMCYU of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, together with representatives of over 40 clubs which have already been operating at the school.

The meeting took place from 10:30AM to 12:30PM, in which the executive board of HCMCYU of the school promulgated activity regulations and the management form as well as stated exactly the number of clubs involved in activities in the school year 2016-2017. The content of the meeting does not only raise clearly the school’s concern about the participation in afterschool activities of students but also help them balance between their playtime and their study at school.

At the beginning of the meeting, members of the school HCMCYU performed a roll call of the clubs, established regulations and listed clubs that would continue to operate.

During the main part of the program, Secretary of the school HCMCYU made overall remarks on the activity situation, besides summarizing outstanding extracurricular achievements of clubs last schoolyear, through which Amsers have shown impressively their talents and dynamism in every field. Regarding arts, the students successfully organised the Fashion Show  “Prompt” of Lamode- the fashion club, the program GALA of HAT, those from Glee Ams made a huge success with the musical play GLAMS 2016  “Who are you?”. In terms of science, the club SOS (the chemistry club) held the science exhibition Science Tornado with resounding effects, introducing science into normal life; along with the club PYHA (the physics club), SOS has been noticed by and collaborated with some outside science associations on many projects. With regard to sports, football and basketball clubs, in addition to physical exercise, also represented the school to take part in students’ competitions throughout the city, acquiring enormous achievements… When it comes to social, voluntary activities, the club GHA successfully launched the collective campaign Green Life, the summer camp Camp Blast, voluntary activities aiming to improve social knowledge and interactions among the students, as well as to raise awareness about environmental protection. However, clubs still do have considerable drawbacks. For example, a club dissolved after an inactive year, some activities didn’t gain permission from the school board or went beyond the scale of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School without close supervision, the problem of sanitation after club meetings is also remarkable and needs to be reviewed for the better.

In the next important part, Mrs. Tran Hong Linh promulgated activity regulations and the assessment criteria for clubs in the next term. At the end of the meeting, students could freely express their views as well as ask and answer issues involving the activity regulations enthusiastically.

Hopefully Amsers should always guarantee study results while participating in extracurricular activities effectively to successfully contribute to the distinguished reputation of students from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School as talented, dynamic, and creative.
