Christmas Day 12/24 is a special day of the year - commemorating the birth of Jesus. This is a big holiday rooted in Western culture that many Vietnamese people care about, especially young people. On this occasion, let's listen to the sharing of Nguyen Phuong Linh - a 10th grader of Chemistry 2 at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted about Christmas activities held every year at the school.

Reporter: First of all, I would like to thank you for accepting the invitation to participate in the interview. Christmas is coming very close, the houses are starting to decorate the pine trees and the streets are sparkling with red and blue lights. In the excitement of Christmas, how are you feeling right now?

Phuong Linh: I feel very excited because for me, Christmas is always a special holiday. My family decorates the house, prepares for Christmas early, I decorate the Christmas tree with glittering balls, prepare cute gifts to give to everyone. I really like the bustling, warm atmosphere of Christmas, and every year I look forward to this holiday the most.

Like every year, I would go to school and attend Christmas with my teachers and friends, wear Christmas costumes and go out on the street with my family. This year, the epidemic situation made it impossible for me to go out like in previous years, so my family celebrated Christmas at home, with a lot of interesting activities. However, I still feel a bit disappointed because I can't meet and give gifts to friends in person.

Reporter: As a student who has been attached to the 5th year with the Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, has attended many Christmas celebrations at school, do you see how Christmas at school has changed over the years?

Phuong Linh: Every Christmas at school there is something unique. There are five schools that erected a very large pine tree in the schoolyard with flashing lights, another year played cheerful and bustling Christmas songs, making me feel that the Christmas atmosphere has come very close. Usually, the brothers and sisters also organize dance performances down the hall, which is very fun. When there was no translation, you and I would prepare gifts to give each other by our own hands. This year, although the stressful epidemic situation made it impossible for students to go directly to school, my classmates held Christmas online with many interesting and exciting activities. Christmas every year leaves me with an unforgettable impression.

Reporter: You must have had a lot of memorable memories with your class over the years, can you share one of the most impressive memories with you?

Phuong Linh: There is one memory that I will always remember, it was Christmas when I was in 6th grade, when I was a new student at the school. Our class at that time had an appointment to wear bright red costumes, wear Christmas hats, prepare gifts by hand and draw lots together. At that time, there were both suspenseful and funny situations: one friend won 5 Christmas pens, one friend won a comic book, another male friend won a teddy bear, making the whole class win a prize. laugh out game!

What happened next was a surprise to the whole class: a Santa Claus appeared in front of his classroom. Santa Claus gave each class member a beautiful red gift box with a blue bow, and I still have that gift box to this day. He also sent each one a well-wishes, and shook hands with each one before leaving. Oh, how fun was that then!
