Taking place during the Covid_19 pandemic, this year’s national university entrance exam is a fairly special occasion for the students. Under the careful supervision of the Board of Directors, the cooperation of other Departments such as the Education Department or Medical Department, and the assistance of volunteers at the test location, the examination was able to take place safely. Upon entering the premises, contestants had their body temperature checked, their hands sanitized. They were also informed of the safety guidelines and given words of encouragement to get ready for their tests.

During the first afternoon of the examination, there was a heavy downpour which seemed to let on the downbeat emotions of the testakers after their morning Literature exam. The rain cooled the stressful atmosphere, but at the same time rendered the students completely sọaked in fluid. Nevertheless, their moods were somewhat enhanced by the thoughtful and considerate actions of the volunteers, such as offering contestants umbrellas, giving them directions should they go astray, and distributing water bottles to quench their thirst.

At the end of the examination days, Thu Ngan, a 20-23 Geography student of the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School, used up her savings to purchase 20 boxes of masks and give them to the volunteers as a token of appreciation for accompanying the contestants in the 2021 National University Entrance exam. Thu Ngan shared that because her parents were at the frontline fighting back Covid_19 day and night, she also wanted to make some meaningful contributions by both cheering up the contestants and playing a role in ensuring their safety during the pandemic.
