[CELEBRATING MARCH 8th, 2022] ABOUT A MEANINGFUL WOMEN'S DAY THROUGH THE STORY OF TEACHER NGUYEN TUAN ANH

Post by: trangtrang | 08/03/2022 | 1204 reads

When the first succulent petals begin to bloom, March suddenly rushes in between the fragrance and the sunshine. The streets of Hanoi have a gloomy look amidst the complicated developments of the epidemic. But beside that, in the hearts of every citizen and especially women, excitement is still overflowing upon looking forward to the International Women's Day 8/3. As an annual practice, men become busier and busier on the day, honoring the contributions and sacrifices of women. In the midst of a special 8/3, let's talk with teacher Nguyen Tuan Anh - a French math teacher of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted - to better understand International Women's Day through the lens of men!

Reporter: On behalf of Ams Wide Web Club, I would like to thank you for accepting the invitation to participate in today's interview. Coming to the first question: To you, what does International Women's Day mean to a man, and, in the current stressful epidemic time, has March 8 lost some of its worth?

Teacher Tuan Anh: I think that for any man in the world, occasions that honor women are extremely important. Men can't live alone and can't run all the work alone; they always need to go with a woman. If women are happy, men will also be happy. Therefore, women’s occasions like March 8th are an opportunity for men to show their affection and gratitude for their women. During the outbreak of the epidemic, I believe that this value remains unaffected. The origin of March 8th is the anniversary of the Socialist Party of America, encouraging women to take to the streets for rights in a society designed to serve men. As long as we keep in mind the historical spirit of that event, March 8th will certainly remain valid under any circumstances.

Teacher Nguyen Tuan Anh and his feelings about March 8

Reporter: As someone who has been exposed to many different cultures, what virtue do you think is the symbol of the typical beauty of Vietnamese women?

Teacher Tuan Anh: If you have a chance, try going to the market at six o'clock in the morning, and count how many women are working out there. Or when hanging out in the old town at night, pay attention to whether the shop owners on the street are usually women or men. Specifically, I am not sure, but I know that there are few places in the world where women work as much as in Vietnam. I think that the beauty in labor, in the spirit of sacrifice and hard work, is also a symbol of the beauty of Vietnamese women.

Reporter: There is an opinion that: "Behind a man's success, there is always a woman's shadow". Can you share your thoughts on this statement?

Teacher Tuan Anh: I have no one and don’t want anyone behind me to make my "shadow", because I want someone to be willing to go with me. Fortunately, my wife is that person. We have known each other for 10 years, love each other for 5 years and have always been together until now. No one has to go behind the other; the two of us are always on an equal footing.

Teacher Tuan Anh with his emotional sharing about special women

Reporter: March 8 is always an opportunity for boys to confess their feelings. If you put yourself in that position, do you have any advice you would like to give to students or men in general?

Teacher Tuan Anh: I just want to advise that you guys don't need to say much. As a man, just do it, and do good things to replace the words that need to be said. Until then, what we do will automatically prove our heart.

Reporter: Before coming to the end, I have a funny question for you: Every year there are two special days for women, so have you ever felt a little "envious" of this half of the world?

Teacher Tuan Anh: I have never thought like that. Madame Curie had to run from Poland to France to go to school; Rosalind Franklin was never nominated for a Nobel Prize because she was a woman. The world has a lot of prejudices against women, so I think such special occasions should be made more widely known so that we can all acknowledge the injustices and then work together to correct them.

Reporter: Finally, on behalf of the men of the Hanoi - Amsterdam school, please send a greeting to the female employees, teachers and students of our school.

Teacher Tuan Anh: A happy woman will always be a beautiful woman. On March 8th, I wish all the female teachers and staff of Hanoi - Amsterdam school and the "Amseuses" always full of health, luck and happiness!

Wish every woman around us will always live a healthy, happy life and achieve more success in life!
