Celebrating 40 years of Vietnamese Teachers' Day at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted

Nelson Mandela - the first black President in the history of South Africa once famously said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can utilize to transform the world.” Therefore, teaching has always been a respectable and noble profession for those who have dedicated their careers to educating their students. On the morning of November 16th, 2022, at the Hall 700, in a formal yet joyful atmosphere, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted successfully held a celebration to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20th, leaving an indelible mark in the hearts of teachers and students of the school.

The ceremony welcomes the attendance of delegates and leaders of the Cau Giay district as well as other guests, generations of former teachers, current teachers and outstanding students of the school.

  

The ceremony began with a special art performance to welcome and pay homage to the teachers, carefully choreographed by the students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School. The opening performance was a folk dance to the proud chants and melodies about our dear Vietnam in the song “Vietnam in me” executed by student Nguyen Ngoc Ha Chi and the school’s dance group. Following that, the school’s choir sang "Chalk Dust" and "First Lesson". 

  

Speaking at the ceremony, Miss Tran Thuy Duong - Secretary of the Party Committee, Principal of the school declared: "The 37-year journey of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted has been a journey full of golden milestones and proud achievements in our mission to educate students To have achieved these glorious milestones, generations of teachers at our school have worked hard to nurture our students into mature individuals with all their love for students and their enthusiasm for the teaching profession.” Ms. Tran Thuy Duong emphasized that the mission of today's generation of teachers is to look up to the example of their predecessors as well as making efforts to be innovative in their teaching methods and improve the quality of education. She also congratulated teachers and students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted for their numerous achievements in recent years. Thanks to those unrelenting efforts, our school still maintains its position as a leading school in the capital with students gaining high accomplishments in national and international competitions and making admirable contributions to the Party. On the occasion of November 20th, on behalf of the Board of Directors, the Principal wished for all teachers’ physical and mental well-being, hoping that they would keep a joyful and happy spirit to keep on with their mission.

Time can take away many things from us, but the memories it left us can be equally valuable. The guests and the teachers were able to relive wonderful moments of the past through a short clip documenting the 37-year journey of the Hanoi-Amsterdam school.

Following that, Mr. Vu Tuan Cuong, Deputy Head of the Representative Committee of the school’s Parents and Students Association, offered teachers his well wishes and heartfelt appreciation for raising the students to become good citizens.

On behalf of nearly 3,000 students at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Chu Hoa Bao Tram, a student from class 12 History, expressed her gratitude at the celebration: “For us, learning and growing up at Hanoi - Amsterdam school is an honor, a proud one to be exact. With each passing school year, the teachers of our school proudly make history in Ams, and we learn to become better, more complete versions of ourselves with every passing day. Students in Hanoi - Amsterdam receive from their teachers not only their knowledge but above all, the life lessons that will be with us and help us prepare for the future." 

In the past school year of 2021 - 2022, the teachers of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted have been highly successful in all aspects and were honored to receive these numerous achievements.

November 20th is an occasion on which students across the country express their spiritual and warm love for their teachers, a day dedicated to honoring “the most noble of all noble professions”. Generations of teachers and students will continue to take pride in that glorious tradition, promoting the spirit of a strong Hanoi - Amsterdam. 

The 40th anniversary of Vietnam Teachers' Day on November 20th for the teachers and students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School was a nice success.
