Book Exchanging Festival Sapentia: Sharing knowledge

On September 5th 2015, Sapientia, an annual book exchange organized by the Bookler and Ams Advisor has taken place at Summit Education Services 101 Lang Ha with the participation of students across Hanoi.

“Sapientia” stands for wisdom in Latin. This name is particularly apt for a book- exchange event, as much wisdom and knowledge comes with books. Coming to Sapientia, students can gain access to not only test-preparation books for standardized tests such as the SAT, TOEFL or IELTS, but also to a variety of literary works. Books covered in film of dust on forgotten book shelves are brought back to life in the hands of new readers, who are willing to take on the marvelous adventures unfolding in each page.

Books available at Sapientia are classified based on features such as contents, language uses or genres and are awarded with appropriate number of points. One of the most extensive book collections presented at Sapientia this year was worth a staggering 1000 points, an amazing record in the history of the event.

“This is my first time at Sapientia and I am really impressed with this event. What I find meaningful about this book exchange is that I get access to books that I have always wanted but have not been able to find,” according to a student at the fair.

It is interesting to note that this year at Sapientia, there were extremely rare books such as “100 Russian best short stories” published by the Writers Association in 1998, or the “Investigators II” printed in Singapore in 1990 by the Bookworm. There were also a diversity of exquisite books written in English such as “The Death of Bunny Munro” or “Complete Nonsense” by Edward Lear, and many other science reference books.

Sapientia is organized with the aim of improving readership among students, by bringing them the wonder of books to fuel their love for reading.

Although the event was set to close at 4 pm, the overwhelming number of participants made it impossible to close until an hour later. With the joint effort of The Bookler and Ams Advisor, Sapientia 2015 has exceeded all expectations, and we hope that the events in the future will be even more successful.
