2015 – 2016 Gifted students’ ceremony to show gratitude for Uncle Ho

In the morning of 18.5.2016, at the square in front of Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, the gifted students’ ceremony to show gratitude to Uncle Ho solemnly took place. Present at the meeting were leaders of the capital education section, principals of schools that had students in national and international teams; managers of the teams and over 200 representative faces of the capital education, from primary to high school level.

The ceremony kicked off with the flag salutation at the square in front of Ho Chi Minh mausoleum. Present at the ceremony was Mr. Chu Xuan Dung – Vice Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training; leaders and experts of divisions in the Department; principals and vice principals of schools that had students achieving National and International prices; managers of National teams and International teams and over 200 Hanoian students who had outstanding achievements in the 2015-2016 National competition, Intel Isef, IMC, IMO… from primary to secondary and high school level.

After the flag salutation, Hanoian teachers and students listened to Uncle Ho’s teaching to students and the young. The echo of is voice in the sunny, windy square on a historic May day seemed to remind us all to strive for the best teaching and studying results, once again.

Mr. Chu Xuan Dung, as the representative of Hanoi Department of Education and Training, reported on the achievements of the Capital’s education sector in the 2015-2016 school year to President Ho Chi Minh. In 2015-2016, Hanoi won 147 National prizes with 12 First prizes. This is an impressive number, marking the maturity and growth of the Capital’s education sector.

Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted was the nation’s no.1 prize-achiever in terms of both quantity and quality. The school’s teams won 12 First prizes, therein 2 were in Math, 1 in Physics, 1 in Chemistry, 3 in Biology, 1 in Geology, 3 in English and 1 in French. In addition, they also achieved 33 Second prizes, 23 Third prizes and 11 Encouragement prizes. These are accomplishments to be proud of, and could be considered major achievements of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. In particular, the Math team made their mark with the outstanding victory of Pham Nam Khanh (10 Math 1) and Dao Vu Quang (12 Math 1)’s First prizes; the city’s Geology team won 1 First prize. Other teams such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English and French maintained the tradition of previous years.

In addition to that, International teams showed potential of achieving great success, bringing honor to the country.

Representing over 200 outstanding students of the Capital, Dao Vu Quang, student of 12 Math 1, Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the gifted, first prize winner in the National Competition, member of the International Math team, reported their achievements to Uncle Ho, affirming Hanoian students’ determination and spirits.

In his speech, Quang emphasized: “To be among the brightest students of the capital is a great honor, a milestone that follows us, not just during the time we’re in school, but also in our future ahead.

That success is not only made up of personal endeavors, but also the attention and help from the Party, the Government, the authorities of Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the schools and our families.

Each of us has made an unfading mark in our pages of student memories. However, we all understand it is not the destination, but the beginning. It is the steady fulcrum that gives us faith in ourselves and belief in our young dreams and spirits.

In front of the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, we Hanoian students would like to report our achievements to Uncle Ho. In the “Letter to the young”, He said: “If the young want to own their future in a worthy way, they have to sharpen their mind and enrich their resources right from this moment.” We promise to follow His teachings, to strive and contribute to the protection and development of the country
