Preliminary Ceremony of 1st semester (2019-2020) at Hanoi - Amsterdam High school for the Gifted

In the morning of 6/1/2019, teachers and students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High school for the Gifted had solemnly held the preliminary ceremony of 1st semester in delight with praiseworthy achievements throughout the past semester.

The preliminary ceremony was held to recap gained achievements, also to draw lessons in order to complete the operation plan for the 2nd semester. Participated in the ceremony were Mrs Le Thi Oanh - Communist Party secretary, the school’s principal, the representative of the school board and parent association together with teachers and students of HN-Ams.

The 1st semester marked continuous effort and contribution of teachers and students to the school’s success. In High school excellent student contest and round 1 of the City’s contest, students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High school for the Gifted had been excellently awarded 338 city’s prizes, including 35 First Prizes, 135 Second Prizes, 89 Third Prizes and 79 Consolation Prizes in total. In the Science - Technology Intel Isef of the city, 1 topic had been chosen for the national round. In the city’s Excellent student contest round 2, 112 students were proudly able to continue competing in the national round. In the Excellent student contest of Secondary stage, Hanoi - Ams had achieved 141 prizes with 9 First Prizes, 61 Second Prizes, 55 Third Prizes and 16 Consolation Prizes.

Students were not only successful in national competitions but also proved themselves in international contests, such as: in the International Olympiad on Chemistry, Tran Ba Tan (12 Chemistry 1) was awarded Gold Medal, as well as mentioned in the top list and was the absolute winner in the practice section; in the International Olympiad on Physics  in Israel, Tran Xuan Tung (12 Physics 1) had achieved 1 Gold Medal ; in the International Olympiad on Mathematics in Britain, Phan Minh Duc (12 Math 1) had achieved 1 Silver Medal. In the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics, Vietnam had achieved 1 Gold Medal with absolute points (Nguyen Manh Quan, 11 Physics 1), 3 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals and 1 certificate. In the International Mathematics Competition IMC, students of HN - Amsterdam High school for the Gifted had won 2 Winner Cups, 1 Gold Cup, 2 team’s Silver Cups, 4 Gold Medals, 5 Silver Medals and 1 individual Consolation prize. Besides, in the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad IMSO, the school was proud to have 4 Gold Medals (Board A - International Board), 9 Gold Medals (Board B - board for Vietnamese teams), 3 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals in the International Junior Science Olympiad IJSO.

Also in the ceremony, the school board had congratulated 12 excellent classes and praised some other good classes: 11 classes was outstanding in academic activities, 3 in morality and 9 classes excelled in extracurricular activities. The school had also praised individuals with exceptional achievements.

Besides, existing drawbacks needed to be solved in the 2nd semester of 2019-2020: students using inappropriate language, behaving manners, wearing unsuitable clothes at school, having disrespectful manners towards guests and teachers, developing little responsibilities towards the environment, unawareness of rules in community activities. The school requested students to improve behaving and communicating manners, not to join in social issues and strictly follow traffic laws…

While organizing extracurricular activities, Hanoi - Amsterdam High school for the Gifted had successfully held many events, such as Orientation Day, Moon Festival for Grade 6, 7, NHAT, Youth Union Conference and Children’s Union Conference, completing rules, establishing process and managing methods for clubs of High school, field trips together with charitable activities, holding big ceremonies such as 20/11, 21/12… Clubs in the school had organized competitions like “Ams’ Got Talent” as well as musical, traditional games… effectively and meaningfully. Students of the whole school had actively joined competitions such as “Online learning about regulations”, “Proud Vietnam”, “International Letter-writing competition UPU”,... Programmes honoring teachers from former students of Hanoi - Amsterdam. 

The 1st semester had passed away with lots of impressive achievements, marking efforts of teachers and students. We hope that students of Hanoi - Amsterdam can bring more proud achievements to our school in the next semester!
